Request for Postcards

Hi Friends!

We have a special favor to ask of you to help promote conservation across the country and right here along the Ohio Lake Erie shoreline.

As you may know, Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge hosts 60,000+ visitors during the Biggest Week in American Birding in early May.  In an effort to raise awareness for the National Wildlife Refuge System, we’d like to ask each Friends group to send a postcard to us… let me explain why.

If your group is anything like ours, we have a dedicated base of folks who understand how the refuge system works, and then we have new visitors who just have no idea. With such a large captive audience, we thought this would be a perfect time to promote the national wildlife refuge system in a unique way.

These postcards will become part of a large wall display and a focal point for conservation during the festival. It will show the migratory flyways across the country and highlight some spots where “our” warblers have traveled through. This will be a great way for our visitors to see where the birds have stopped to rest along their migration route, and what other NWRs they might visit in the future. The idea is to create a sense of unity for our refuge system.

So, can you help?

Postcards may be sent to:

Please send by April 5, 2019 to help with our project!

Thank you for all that you do.
